Is
Indoor Air Quality
a Problem in Your Home?
The air in your home may not be as healthy as it
should be, especially if you are experiencing any of the following:
- Does your home feel stuffy and stale when you
enter from outside?
- Do cooking odors linger for hours?
- Is there soot around your furnace, boiler or
hot water heater?
- Do you have mold growing on windows, walls
and ceilings?
- Do you have headaches, irritated eyes,
dizziness, breathing difficulties, nasal congestion, sore
throats or drowsiness when you are in your home, but feel better
when you are away?
If you are experiencing any of these
conditions in your home, we highly recommend an Air Quality Test
immediately.

Air Quality in Your Home
Indoor pollution is a major health problem
today.
Few people are aware that the air within most
homes is polluted too. And since people spend as much as 90 percent
of their time indoors, the health risks from poor indoor air quality
may be significantly greater than exposure to air pollution
outdoors.
Did you know that:
- According to the EPA, indoor air is 2-100
times more polluted than outdoor air.
- 28 million Americans suffer from allergies.
- Most homes generate 40 pounds of dust per
year for every 1500 square feet.
- One ounce of dust contains 40,000 dust mites.
- Exposure to indoor air pollutants is
increasing due to greater use of synthetics in building
materials, fixtures and furnishings.
- According to a study by the Commonwealth of
Massachusetts, indoor pollutants are responsible for
approximately half of all sickness.
- Health problems that can be associated with
indoor air pollution are eye, nose, and throat irritation, sinus
congestion, coughing, sneezing, headache, fatigue and shortness
of breath.
- Houses built since 1979 are more tightly
sealed to conserve energy, but that results in more air
pollutants trapped indoors. Allergy sufferers should try to live
in a house built before 1979, or upgrade their home’s heating
and cooling system to ensure the best air quality possible.
An Air Quality Test is the best way to be
certain that the air your family is breathing is healthy enough for
everyone. Pete Miller Inc. can perform that test for you, and make
specific recommendations if your home’s air quality falls below
healthy standards.
